Ch. 6: You on the Night of the Full Moon (SUN)

The wolves bared their fangs and seemed ready to leap on me at any moment.

I’m scared…!

The second I took a step back, the wolves moved forward in unison.

I shut my eyes tightly and…

Vim: "Knock it off!"

Vim!

At the sound of Vim’s loud voice, the wolves froze.

Vim: "Get out of here…!"

Vim scowled and the wolves ran out of the cave.

Relieved, I sank to the ground.

Vim: "…you idiot! What the hell are you doing here?!"

OO: "I-I…"

Under Vim’s angry glare, I couldn’t get a word out.

Vim: "…"

Then, Vim came up and rapped me on the head.

OO: "…Vim…?"

Vim: "Don’t go doing something dangerous for my sake."

OO: "…I’m sorry. I just didn’t want you to hurt yourself."

As I said that, Vim sighed in exasperation but…

Vim: "You’re so nosy."

His golden eyes looked at me kindly.

Vim: "Anyway, let’s get out of here."

OO: "W-wait!"

Sitting on the ground, I tried unsuccessfully to stand up.

Vim: "…geez."

In the next instant…

My body was lightly lifted into the air.

Eh…

Vim held me up effortlessly and started walking.

OO: "V-Vim…!"

Feeling shaken and nervous, I felt my cheeks start to warm.

Vim: "I’m helping."

However, when I looked into his eyes I saw kindness there.

I leaned on his sturdy frame.

Vim: "Sorry about my partners back there."

OO: "Partners?"

Vim: "Yeah, those wolves are my partners. My friends. When I become a wolf and restrain myself…they look after the key for me until dawn comes."

OO:"So that’s what it was…"

Huh? Come to think of it…tonight is the full moon.

The Vim before me wasn’t in the form of a wolf.

OO: "Vim, you’re not a wolf…?"

Vim: "Ah…"

A confused expression also crossed Vim’s face.

Vim: "Usually my blood would have already started going berserk. I wonder what it is about today. I guess seeing you being attacked, I completely forgot about it."

OO: "Eh…?"

Vim smiled affectionately and pulled me closer.

Vim: "Yesterday, finally…she appeared in my dreams."

OO: "She…Sarah?"

The moonlight illuminated Vim’s sad smile.

Vim: "She said she was sorry. Even though I’m the one who should have apologized."

OO:"That’s not true…Sarah just doesn’t want you to be hurting anymore."

Vim: "Thanks…"

Vim…

Staring at Vim, my heart started thumping loudly.

Vim: "Also…"

Vim averted his gaze in embarrassment.

Vim: "Sarah…she told me to take care of you."

OO: "Eh…"

Vim: "She’s also pretty nosy."

At those words my cheeks flushed and I couldn’t look directly at Vim.

Vim: "OO. I want you to look at me properly like you always do."

Holding me gently, Vim pressed his forehead to mine.

With us so close together, he moved and nuzzled my cheek with his nose.

OO: "V-Vim!"

Vim: "You finally lifted your head."

OO: "Ah…"

I gazed at him and smiled.

Vim was lit up by the light of the full moon.

The sorrows of the past had already disappeared from his sparkling golden eyes.
