Background
Prince of Mei in the Land of Darkness.
He is weak of will and always trembling in fear. He is compassionate and doesn't like conflict. Yet he possesses a desire to be manlier. He has a habit of wrapping his arms around himself as if it's a form of protection. His country has a strained relationship with Amatsu, where Kotohogi is prince.
Introduction
Shigure saves a puppy in the rain. Then the puppy runs off with something important to Shigure. You move to chase after it, but why does Shigure just smile as if he's resigned himself…?

Shigure - a Japanese name using the characters 紫 (murasaki) meaning 'purple' and 雨 (ame) meaning 'rain'.

Mei - from the Japanese 冥 (mei), meaning 'dark' or 'so dark you cannot see'.
