Ch. 6: Blaze of Fury (MOON)
Dulfer: "I’ve come to whisk you away."
Dulfer had suddenly arrived at my room, lifted me up, and started to fly into the night sky.
I kept my eyes tightly shut out of fear and…
Dulfer: "Don’t be scared. Come on, open your eyes. The night view is beautiful."
He was so close as he whispered that I could feel the tickle of his eyelashes.
OO: "…"
I slowly opened my eyes and…
OO: "Wow…"
The town, beautiful and sparkling, flew up and filled my vision.
This is amazing…it’s so fantastical.
In the western sky was a sliver of the waning moon, and looking to the east were golden stars shooting across the night sky.
And more than that…
The beauty of the city lights flickering one by one against that black velvet cloth took my breath away.
Dulfer: "See? Told you."
OO: "I’ve never seen such a beautiful nightscape."
Dulfer: "Yup. Everyone says that."
As he said ‘everyone,’ my chest ached slightly.
Dulfer: "That’s why I wanted to show it to you too. This, my most beautiful country."
OO: "Dulfer…"
The night wind was cold as it passed and made my body shiver.
Dulfer: "…it’s a little cold. Let’s go back down."
Dulfer wrapped me in a tight embrace.
The more I came in contact with him, the warmer I got, but it was a little embarrassing.
It’s like being wrapped up in feathers…in his gentle arms…

Before long, we slowly alighted on the ground.
OO: "Ah-"
As my feet touched the ground, I still felt as if I was floating and my legs were unsteady.
Dulfer: "Careful. Let’s do this for a little while."
While grasping Dulfer’s hand, we slowly began to walk beneath the rows of dimly lit street lamps.
Even though I’m back on the ground, I still feel like I’m floating.
Wrapped up in that dreamy sensation, immersed in the memory of our walk through the sky…
??: "Hey, long time no see Prince Dulfer. How dare you steal my girl!"
Suddenly, an unpleasant man appeared before us and blocked the way.
DulfeR: "…and who would that be?"
Dulfer shrugged his shoulders as if he honestly didn’t know.
Man: "And then you go and dump her! You really piss me off."
Dulfer: "That’s not true. I’m always the one getting dumped you know."
Man: "Shut up! You stand there going on and on while you’ve got some girl with you…come here!"
Dulfer: "I don’t think so. I’m not good with conflict. Why don’t you find someone else to be your opponent? See ya."
Dulfer completely ignored the man and pulled my hand to go past him.
That seemed to push him too far and…
Man: "Hold it!"
OO: "Eh…!"
Suddenly, he grabbed my upper arm and pulled me away.
Dulfer: "…!"
Pulled away from Dulfer’s hand, I collapsed onto the ground.
OO: "Ow…"
I landed heavily on my elbows and knees, and they started to bleed.
Man: "W…well, serves you right!"
The man said as much and began to laugh mockingly when…
Dulfer: "You bastard…"
Suddenly, the cold air around me began to heat up.
W-what? Dulfer…!?
Dulfer unfurled his wings to their fullest and spread them out high above him.
I sat there in shock and saw flames erupt behind him, and in an instant he was wrapped with whirling hell fire.
What the…!? Dulfer!?
I swallowed hard in the heat of the blaze.
Dulfer: "Touching OO so casually with your filthy hands…how dare you…!"
Glaring, Dulfer’s expression was so terrifyingly full of rage that it could have silenced a crying child in an instant.
Dulfer: "How about I burn you to a crisp…it’ll only take a second."
Man: "A…a…aaaaaah!"
Then man fell over on the ground, trembling, then ran off on all fours.
Dulfer: "Hmph…"
Dulfer pulled back in his wings, and at the same time the flames vanished.
Ah, the city is back to normal…
The night town was very quiet, and Dulfer turned and headed for me.
His expression was completely calm…
Dulfer: "Oh dear, I hate sultry men…and yet I go and loose my cool like that. I haven’t done that in a long time. But I just wanted to turn that guy to charcoal for hurting you like that."
He said it so easily with a smile and a laugh, I couldn’t even nod.
Dulfer: "Well…I guess there are other things that make people leave."
I remembered what Dulfer had said before.
A-anyway, I better not do anything to make Dulfer angry…
Dulfer: "Well, let’s head back to the room."
After he finished speaking, I nervously grabbed his outstretched hand.
I was in complete shock and fearful of these other sides of Dulfer but…
Dulfer: "～～♪♪"
Regardless, my heart couldn’t resist being drawn to that singing.
